Collections Centre
The Collections Centre houses some of the collections of Scotland’s first university. The Museums team take care of more than 115,000 objects from art, history, science and medicine, and relating to research and teaching at the University across all subject areas. Three of the collections are Recognised Collections, of national significance: the heritage, chemistry, and scientific instruments collections.
These are active collections, and available for research and teaching, as well as for loans and exhibitions. We welcome researchers who would like to make an appointment to study the collections, or who would like information about any objects or collection areas.
Basic information is available in our collections database and we are working on ambitious plans to digitise the entire collection. However, this is a work in progress, and the online database does not yet include every object.
For collection enquiries, or to book an appointment to visit the Collections Centre, please email the curatorial team at museumenquiries@st-andrews.ac.uk.
