Bell Pettigrew Museum
The Bell Pettigrew Museum of Natural History explores creatures and fossils from around the world, including extinct species, rare specimens and prehistoric beasts.
Packed full of treasures and wonders, the Bell Pettigrew is a spectacular reminder of how important a museum can be in the study of the natural sciences.
Opening times
- For University staff and students: Monday to Friday, 1pm to 5pm
- For the general public: open during Fife school holidays from 1pm to 5pm

Getting to the Museum
Walking
The Bell Pettigrew Museum is in the University's Bute Medical Building. You can access the building through St Mary's Quadrangle from South Street, or from Queen's Terrace.
The entrance is through Door C.
Driving
You can reach St Andrews by the main roads A91, A917 and A915. There is free parking available at the North Haugh car park at the edge of St Andrews. Paid parking spaces are available in the town centre.
Train and bus
St Andrews can be reached by taking the train to Leuchars and then a bus to the town centre. The town is linked by several bus routes.
