Max Czollek’s visit
The Department of German will be hosting the German Jewish author Max Czollek as a writer in residence from 9 to 15 February 2020, sponsored by DAAD.
Max Czollek (born 1987 in Berlin) is a lyricist, essayist, curator and member of the Poetry Collective G13. He completed his doctorate at the Center for Research on Antisemitism at the Technical University of Berlin. His polemic pamphlet Desintegriert Euch! (“De-Integrate Yourselves!”) was published in 2018 by Hanser, and Grenzwerte (“Threshold Values”), a collection of poems, was published in 2019 by Verlagshaus Berlin.
He will give in-class workshops with both Sub-Honours and Honours German and Comparative Literature students, focusing on creative writing, translation and theatre. In addition to that the German Department will organise a public reading, in which Max Czollek will read from his latest book and poetry collection and will also give a Q+A. The reading and the panel will both be bilingual and therefore also open to a non-German speaking audience.
