Professor Bettina Bildhauer elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh
The School of Modern Languages wishes to congratulate Professor Bettina Bildhauer on her election as Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
Professor Bildhauer joins a community of one of around 1,800 leading experts in the sciences, arts, business, professions and the third and public sectors, with links to Scotland. Founded in 1783, the RSE funds research, provides policy advice and hosts events designed to tackle the issues facing Scotland and internationally. Professor Bildhauer was one of two fellows elected from St Andrews, alongside astrophysicist Professor Vivienne Wild.
Professor Bildhauer said: “I am frankly amazed to find myself in the company of such of illustrious scholars and public figures, present and past. It means a great deal for me as a Germanist to be part of the RSE, strengthening Scotland’s connection to Europe and the wider world. I am so pleased that the leading work of my collaborators and me in Critical Menstruation Studies and in translingual medieval studies is recognised in this way.”
