Filming of a documentary film on Annie Ernaux

Film director Claire Simon, who is preparing a documentary film on Annie Ernaux, visited St Andrews in week 7. She filmed Dr Elise Hugueny-Léger's classes on modules FR4150 (Creative Writing in French) and CO4021 (Autobiography and the Visual Arts), with students discussing the recently translated book The Use of photography. Claire and her team also met with PhD students working on Ernaux.

The documentary is being commissioned for the TV programme 'La Grande Librairie' and looks at pupils' and students' responses to Ernaux's works, in France and abroad.
