Prize for Matthias Beckonert

Many congratulations to Matthias Beckonert, a student on the St Andrews-Bonn MLitt programme in German and Comparative Literature last year, who has been awarded second prize in the prestigious Arthur Terry Postgraduate Essay Competition, organised by the British Comparative Literature Association.

Matthias's essay, originally submitted for the core Comparative Literature module 'Apples and Oranges: Issues in Comparative Literature', is entitled 'Imagine (Other Beings): The Animal Gaze in Baudelaire, Robertson and Varo'.
