Dr Daniel Semper
Lecturer in Management
Biography
Daniel joined the University of St. Andrews as Lecturer in 2023. Prior to joining St. Andrews, he has worked as an Assistant Professor at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria. Daniel is also affiliated with the Center for Civil Society Studies at Stockholm School of Economics. He obtained his PhD from JKU Linz, Austria, his MA in management and organizational analysis from Warwick Business School, UK, his BA and MA in Sociology from the University of Graz, Austria. He held visiting positions at the University of Alberta, Canada, UTS Sydney, Australia, University of Bergamo, Italy, and at the Higher School of Economics Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
Research areas
Daniel's research interests revolve around topics of institutional change within and across organizational fields, processes of field governance, field identity, the role of embodiment in institutional work, and detrimental forms of institutional power, e.g., concerning people with ascribed dis/abilities or questions of speciesism.
