SMEs research and new Scottish bank
Dr Ross Brown and Professor John Wilson from the School's Centre for Responsible Banking and Finance met with representatives of the proposed new Scottish National Investment Bank (SNIB).
SNIB will be established in 2020 by the Scottish Government as a pioneering state-owned national investment bank designed to alleviate funding gaps confronting innovative growth-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This is a major transformative economic development project with a £2 billion budget over its first 10 years. In the meeting, to help inform SNIB's targeting and customer segmentation strategy, the researchers showcased their recent work on regional finance gaps and borrower discouragement in SMEs.
