Professor wins ESRC funding for SME productivity study
Professor Ross Brown from the School of Management, as part of a multi-university project team, has secured a grant of £2m from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The team will examine the impact on productivity growth of constraints on access to finance and under-investment in UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The research will build a picture of the problems that small firms face in accessing investment capital and increasing their productivity. This will enable policy makers and businesses to design new policies that will contribute towards higher rates of investment that can increase productivity growth across the UK.
The project will benefit the 6 million UK small business owners and their 16.8 million employees and their families.
