IELLI provides a wide range of training and support for undergraduate students. These include:
Mentoring
IELLI coordinates a number of mentoring schemes for undergraduate and postgraduate students
U-Skills
U-Skills is a programme of skills development workshops and activities to help you during your undergraduate degree.
Graduate Attributes portal
Students can track how they are building their graduate skills throughout their time in St Andrews. The platform lets them log the activities they do inside and outside of the classroom to boost employability.
Saints Skills Builder award
Students can work towards an award that is listed on the HEAR degree transcript, recognising how they have developed a range of skills.
Academic skills tutorials
Students can book a one-to-one tutorial on a range of topics including essay writing, note-taking, studying for exams and time management.
Mathematics and statistics tutorials
Mathematics and statistics appointments are available on a wide range of topics with our experienced postgraduate tutors.
Academic English Language tutorials
Students can book a one-to-one tutorial to help with written and spoken academic communication
Academic Skills project
The Academic Skills project provides undergraduate students with academic skills training specific to their discipline.
Microsoft certification and other IT training
Students can study for a recognised qualification in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) which is listed on their HEAR degree transcript, as well as some Adobe platforms and more.
Laidlaw scholarships
Undergraduate students can apply for a Laidlaw Scholarship in research and leadership, comprising of two summers of projects and a year-round leadership programme.
St Andrews Research Internship Scheme (STARiS)
Undergraduate students can gain research experience by working with University staff members on academic research projects.
Summer Teams Entreprise Programme (STEP)
STEP is an opportunity for undergraduate students to invest seven weeks in the summer participating in a fully-online skills development programme, where they will work on a real-life project, and get this experience listed on their HEAR transcript.
Coaching
Students can apply for a personal coach who can help students set and achieve goals through developing self-leadership skills.
Vertically Integrated Projects (VIPs):
Students can apply to study for a credit-bearing VIP module – an ongoing research project led by an academic supervisor and made up of a team of students from any level of study.
