Emma Wisher

Emma joined the University as Assistant Director, Academic Engagement and Student Experience, in 2022. She has over 20 years' experience of working in academic libraries, in the areas of academic liaison, digital and information skills training, user engagement and the provision of service excellence. She is a strong advocate for the role the library can play in supporting the mission of the University.

Emma was previously Assistant Director User Engagement within Library & Cultural Services at the University of Essex. In this role she led on the development of a partnership working approach between users, both staff and students, and the Library. She also contributed to user-focused building refurbishments and service enhancements, embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

She is a chartered librarian, with an MA in Librarianship from the University of Sheffield and a BA in English from the University of York.

She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
