Hybrid Lectures by IE’s Honorary Professors
IE has recently appointed two honorary professors, Professor Luke Plonsky (Northern Arizona University, USA) and Professor Peter De Costa (Michigan State University, USA). Our honorary professors visited St Andrews from 3rd July to 6th July, delivering two hybrid lectures. Professor Plonsky delivered a lecture entitled “Research Synthesis and Meta-analysis in Language Education and Beyond: A Conceptual and Practical Introduction” and Professor De Costa’s lecture was “Introducing Autoethnography in Applied Linguistics: Prospects and Possibilities”. The two talks were a great success, with almost 200 participants.
Our Director of Impact and Innovation and incoming Director of Research, Professor Sin-Wang Chong, welcomed the guests and chaired the two lectures. The two lectures were part of IE’s Summer School for postgraduate students.
Our other guest speaker, Professor Kay Gallagher from the Emirates College for Advanced Education, delivered a session to our postgraduate students on English Medium Instruction.
