IE appoints two new Honorary Professors
Luke and Peter will be primarily working with Sin Wang Chong to develop a research methodology toolkit.
Luke is currently Professor of Applied Linguistics in the Department of English at Northern Arizona University, and has held previous positions at Georgetown University and University College London. He has also taught short- and longer-term courses in China, Japan, The Netherlands, Poland, Puerto Rico, and Spain where he held a Fulbright Scholar award in 2021. Luke has said:
"I'm thrilled to be joining University of St Andrews as an Honorary Professor! Very much looking forward to working with the wonderful students and esteemed staff in the IE in particular on a range of projects and initiatives".
Peter De Costa is a full professor in the Department of Linguistics, Languages and Cultures (LiLaC) at Michigan State University. Before joining MSU, Peter taught at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California, and also taught ESL at the University of Wisconsin-Madison while pursuing his doctorate. Prior to that, he was a teaching fellow at the National Institute of Education at Nanyang Technological University. He began his career as a high school English teacher in Singapore. Peter is also excited to join the Institute, saying:
"I'm delighted to be appointed as an Honorary Professor at the University of St Andrews, and I welcome new opportunities to collaborate with the staff and students in the International Education Institute".
