SKOTTE, DAVID [SSNE 8491]
Text source
David Scott was living in Uppsala in 1553.
That year on 11 December a dispute arose about the house he was living in on Gråmunkagränd in Uppsala. The son-in-laws of the late Staffan Hindrichsson claimed to have a right to sell the large stone-built house that David was living in which had previously belonged to Staffan. Apparently the late Hans Skotte had married one of Staffan Hindrichsson's daughters and had paid 800 daler for the house. The town mayor and town fathers of Uppsala were not minded to allow the house to be sold as late Hans Skotte had a 14 year-old daughter living in Gävle and she would be able to contest any sale of the house. It was decided to leave the situation as it was until the young woman married and to see whether she maintained the property, etc.
