OGILVIE, PATRICK [SSNE 8407]
Text source
Patrick Ogilvie was a captain in Dutch service in the 1570s. It is unclear when he received his commission from the Privy Council, but he had certainly embarked by 1 August 1573. He appears in the pay-lists of Holland for 1573-1574. For reasons unknown, his company was discharged by the States of Holland in October 1574 and were to be transported back to Scotland. He was commissioned again on 4 December 1577, and appeared in the pay-lists of Holland for 1575-1577. He was still in service by 1579, when he appeared in a list in March of Scottish officers who had taken the States’ obligation.
