ADAMSON, JOHN [SSNE 8406]
Text source
John Adamson was a Scottish captain in Dutch service in the 1570s. He was commissioned by the Privy Council on 16 July 1573 to raise a company for the Prince of Orange and had embarked by 1 August 1573. He appears in the pay-lists of Holland from 1573-1574. On 18 July 1574 it was reported that “Captain Robeson and Adamson’s companies are defeat in Holland.” Robeson reappears in the pay-lists of 1575-1577, while Adamson does not so it is possible he was killed in this engagement.
