SEMPELL, JOHN [SSNE 8312]
Text source
John Semple operated in a Swedish environment in the 1680s and 1690s. He wrote letters mentioning James Sempell [SSNE 6345] and Hans Duncan [SSNE 8300] and their business is mentioned between 1683 and 1690. In one source he is called (by the Swedes) and Englishman, but this could refer to the location of his trade as James Sempell was certainly a Scot.
