Bartholomew Balfour was an officer in the Scots-Dutch Brigade. He was commissioned as captain in 16 May 1682 and Lieutenant-Colonel in 1689. He was taken prisoner at Killiecrankie, wounded at the battle of Steenqkerque on 3 August 1692, and killed at the battle of Landen on 29 July 1693. He may have been the son of General Bartholomew Balfour [SSNE 8260], who was killed at Killiecrankie.
