ARNOT, MORGAN [SSNE 8244]
Text source
Captain Morgan Arnot was an officer in the temporary fourth regiment of the Scots-Dutch Brigade, under Sir George Hay of Kinfauns [SSNE 5056]. He was not one of the sixteen original captains. By 31 May 1629, Arnot and his company arrived in Rotterdam with a company of 118 men but because Arnot came over of his own accord, the company was considered "redundant." However, the following day, the States-General decided to keep the company and placed it into Hay's regiment. Arnot is referred to as "Mungo Park" in Het Staatsche Leger.
