Captain Dalyell served in the Earl of Morton's regiment for the 1628 Ile de Rhé expedition. He remained in the regiment when it transferred to Sir George Hay of Kinfauns [SSNE 5056] for service in the Dutch Republic. He served at the siege of 's-Hertogenbosch in 1629.
