HAY, WILLIAM [SSNE 8238]
Text source
Captain William Hay served in the fourth regiment of the Scots-Dutch Brigade under Sir George Hay of Kinfauns [SSNE 5056]. He served at the siege of 's-Hertogenbosch in 1629 and may have served at La Rochelle in 1627. It is possible he was a relation of James Hay, First Earl of Carlisle [SSNE 1470], fellow captain James Hay (perhaps Viscount Doncaster) [SSNE 8237], or his colonel, Sir George Hay of Kinfauns.
