HAMILTON, MARGARET [SSNE 8208]
Text source
Margaret Hamilton was the daughter of Captain John Hamilton [SSNE 4969] of the Scots-Dutch Brigade. After Captain Hamilton died in 1620, Margaret petitioned the States-General for a pension based on her father's long service in the Dutch Republic, and this had the backing of the Privy Council of Scotland. She submitted a second petition in 1621. The issue was passed to the Council of State, but, for reasons unknown, the petition was refused.
