CADDEL, [SSNE 8114]
Text source
Captain Caddel was a captain in Dutch service in the 1620s. Because of his name and the many men who bore it in the Dutch Republic, it is assumed he was a Scot. However, except for a few mentions alluding to his death, his name does not appear in the States of War for the Scots-Dutch Brigade. It is possible that he was either in the Anglo-Dutch Brigade, or was a lieutenant or other subaltern promoted to command townspeople during the siege of Bergen-op-Zoom. Nonetheless, he was reported to have been mortally wounded on 20 August 1622 and died a short time later.
