John Barclay was a lieutenant in the second regiment (Sir Robert Henderson's [SSNE 4975]) of the Scots-Dutch Brigade. He served in the company of Captain William Orrock. On 30 June 1621 he helped to recruit 28 men for service in the Brigade for the garrison in Alkmaar.
