Richard Wedderburn worked as a merchant in Elsinore. He was the son of Alexander Wedderburn of Dundee.

Confirmation by James Scrymgeour of Dudop, Knight, of Charter by Richard Wedderburn, burgess of Elsingor in Denmark, son and heir of the deceased Alexander Wedderburn, elder, burgess of Dundee, in favour of Patrick Wedderburn merchant, burgess of the same, the granter's brother german, and Elizabeth Low his spouse in conjunct fee, and to the heirs between them, whom failing, the heirs whomsoever of the said Patrick, of that tenement of burghal land, comprehending a foreland newly built, backlands occupied by Isobella Anderson the granter's mother, and Andrew Auchinlek and Richard Gilgour her servants, with the close and well, etc. lying in the said burgh on the south side of the market gate, between the land of Thomas Gray, baker, and the land of Patrick Wedderburn, on the east, the lands of the heirs of the late James Watsoun, and the vennel called Skirling's Wynd on the south, the cemetery of the church of Saint Clement on the west, and the said gate on the north: also those three acres of arable land lying in the east field of Dudop, of which two lie between the acres sometime occupied by the heirs of the late David Carnegie on the west, the acres sometime occupied by Andrew Barrie, and by David Aberdene, on the east, the public way leading from Dundee to Wallace Cragie on the south, and the acres sometime occupied by the heirs of the late Robert Wedderburn, now of William Rolloch on the north; and the third acre lying in the Densyd in the aforesaid east field of Dudop, between the acres sometime occupied by the heirs of the late James Scrymgeour, now by John Anderson, on the west, and the said Den on the east; and that for certain sums of money: To be holden from the granter and his heirs of James Scrymgeour of Dudop, knight, provost and constable of the burgh of Dundee, his heirs and successors, in fee and heritage: Reserving to the said Isobella Anderson, his mother, her liferent of the said tenement and acres respectively: - Rendering to the said James Scrymgeour the annual fermes and other rights and services contained in the old infeftments:_and to the chaplain of the chapel of S. Servanus seven merks and 20 pence yearly.
