EDMOND, GERTRUDE [SSNE 8039]
Text source
Gertrude Edmond was the daughter of Colonel William Edmond [SSNE 8019] and Agneta Berck. She was the sister of Captain Thomas Edmond [SSNE 8006]. Colonel Edmond's widow and children were recommended by James VI in 1616. Gertrude Edmond went on to marry Sergeant-Major (later Lieutenant-Colonel) Sir Thomas Livingston of Newbigging [SSNE 4983] on 7 July 1649. They had at least two sons who served in the brigade: Sir Thomas Livingston, later Lord Teviot [SSNE 4984] and Sir Alexander Livingston. Because it is unknown whether her mother was Scottish or Dutch, it is possible that Gertrude Edmond was, in fact, half Scottish and half Dutch.
