Anna Kirkpatrick was the widow of Colonel Robert Henderson [SSNE 4975]. Henderson was killed at Bergen-op-Zoom in 1622 and Kirkpatrick petitioned for a pension. The Council of State was nervous that to grant such a pension may form a dangerous and expensive precent, but because Henderson had distinguished himself so nobly at the time of his death they believed that could also set a precedent for bravery in battle. Kirkpatrick was thus granted three months of Henderson's pay on 23 December 1622. On 28 September 1624 she was granted a pension. Female.
