Text source
In June 1632 a Thomas Disington (Dischington?) appears in a letter from Johan Adler Salvius to Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna. He is described as a Scotsman who claimed to have knowledge of a large gold mine (this information comes from the summary of the letter and does not state where this mine was believed to be) details of which Disington was only willing to give to either Oxenstierna or King Gustav II Adolf. Salvius' letter only makes reference to the Scotsman and alludes to fuller information in various attachments, all addressed to King Gustav II Adolf. The source unfortunately does not state whether the attachments have survived. It seems this Thomas Disington had met Alexander Leslie [SSNE 1] and presented his case to the colonel. It remains to be discovered if any further developments arose out of this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rikskansleren Axel Oxenstiernas skrifter och brefvexling, Brev fran Johan Adler Salvius, second series, vol.XIV, p.122 f.
