Text source
Giles Wilmot appears to have been an English merchant living in Nyköping in Sweden (he was described as a citizen of the town). During the 1650s at least two consignments of iron and copper shippen by Wilmot were taken as prize by English privateers. The ships in question were The Abraham’s Offering of Nyköping, Gerbrand Cornelison, master and Gideon. Both vessels were still being still held by the English prize office in May 1654. Goods belonged to William Momma were also on board both ships.Calendar of State Papers John Thurloe, II, pp.299-310. The Remonstration of the Swedish Resident, Benjamin, Bonnel, 24 May 1654.
