HEBORN, ALEXANDER [SSNE 7357]
Text source
An Alexander Hepburn first appears in the Stockholmsstads tankeboker in 1573. He was possibly a military man engaged with the Scottish troops serving in Sweden at the time. There are further references to Alexander Hebron in 1608, 1610 - noted as a Scottish merchant - and in 1616. Whether these are two separate men or the same individual is yet to be clarified. The merchant appears to have moved to Abo (Turku) in Finalnd 1616 where he married Katarina (aka Karin) Thomasdottir Traill (a daughter of Thomas Trail who had arrived in the area c.1600 . Hepburn died in February 1630.
A letter from him, and another from Katarina Traill, his widow, and dated in Abo is found in RA Oxenstiernasamlingen E621.
