A James Gregor, noted as arriving from Gothenburg, took the oath to become a burgess of Stockholm on 12 November 1638. There are further references to a James Gregor, possibly the same man. In 1641 he was involved in a case against Alexander Murray. That year, James' child was buried on Sodermalm and the churchbells were rung for the child's soul at a cost of 12 daler. In 1644, a James Gregor, silk merchant, paid 45 (unspecified value) and tax of 1:16 for February-March. And in 1649 James Greger was involved in cases against David Carnegie [SSNE 7342] and William Lindsay [SSNE 802].
