Jacob Sanderfeldt was the son of Johan and Elizabeth Sanderfeldt. He was born in Stockholm and naturalised as an Englishman after petitioning the House of Lords on 4 December 1702. He had seen French service with Baron Sparre's Regiment, but came to England with Nicholas Wayfort (as Protestants) to serve Queen Ann. They did so at sea under the Duke of Ormonde and distinguished themselves. They were granted English status on 27 February 1703.W. A.
