Christoffer Leijoncrona served as the Swedish Resident in Britain between 1697-1710. He was promoted from his job as secretary to the Swedish delegation which he had held for a year previously. Leijoncrona was married to the step-daughter of Johan Barckman till Leijonbergh (1625-1691) and so had strong roots in the British-Swedish community. He wrote largely in English and had clearly been in Britain for many years before becoming the 'Resident'. He had a cousin called Bancks and many other family members in England. He often sent and received game, brandy and wine to and from these people at his house in Leicester. A very large body of his correspondence exists in the Swedish Riksarkiv
