BLACK, ALEXANDER [SSNE 7161]
Text source
An Alexander/Sander Black appears on the shipping manifests of Gothenburg detailing trade with Scotland from 1641. That year he exported timber, bar iron and nails to Anstruther. He is possibly the same as the Sander Black noted in 1650 as the skipper from Anstruther who brought shipments of Scottish herring for himself, for William Black and for John Maclean [SSNE 1631]. This skipper then left Gothenburg with a cargo of bar iron, planks and tar destined for Anstruther. He also freighted goods to London in 1646.
