James Baird was a Scottish skipper working for Andrew Russell [SSNE 143]. In July 1678, he wrote to Russell from Elsinore noting that he was going with a loading of salt to Danzig and then on to Stockholm to pick up iron and tar. From there he would return to Rotterdam and asked Russell to find out how and where these items would sell best in about a months timeNational Archives of Scotland, Russell Papers, RH15/106/305. 9 July 1678.
