ANDERSON, JOHN [SSNE 6863]
Text source
John Anderson was the pilot for the Dutch fleet going to the East Indies 1640-1643. His diary and log-book was copied by Sir James Balfour and is in the National Library of Scotland. The fact he served as pilot is indicative of earlier voyages, though in whose service is not yet clear, but his use of Portuguese nautical and topographical terms is indicitive of that country's service.
