SINCLAIR, JOHANNE [SSNE 6807]
Text source
Johanne Sinclair was married to Jesper Gøs, the "lensman" of Brunla and Numedalen from 1619-1622 in which year he died. On 20 June 1628, Johanne Sinclair was still a widow and lived on Esperod farm in Norway. Due to her husbands dealings, she was owe some money. On 22 February 1631, Christian IV declared that Mrs Johanne Sinclair had settled her accounts on behalf of the late Jesper Goye and that she and her descendants were free of any debts. It likely that this was the daughter of Andrew Sinclair til Ravenscraig og Sinklarsholm [SSNE 1578], and if so she had two influencial brothers, Christian [SSNE 1579] and Jacob [SSNE 1582]Norske Rigsregistranter, vol. 6 (Christiania, 1877), pp.46, 291-292; K.
