Text source

Thomas Williamson was the son of Robert Williamson [SSNE 6726] and his first wife Margaret Beattie. According to one source - Sigurd Williamsen - the family was from Montrose, but according to another - David Dobson - they were from Bo'ness. Thomas' father migrated to Norway and settled in Lillefosen, near Kristiansund, and Thomas went over himself in May 1716 when his father died to attend the funeral and the reading of the will. He inherited 264 riksdaler and 4/5 s. on his father's death, as did his half-brothers and sister. Like his father, Thomas was also a skipper and possibly traded with Norway
