Thomas Effley was the English Eastland Company's agent to Elbing. In 1627 he was noted as Richard Jenks' [SSNE 4446] secretary in 1627 for English trade negotiations with the Swedish Crown. That year Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna encouraged the residents of the villages around Braunsberg to fulfill their obligations to Effley - King Gustav II Adolf had donated the income from those lands to the EnglishmanRikskansleren Axel Oxenstiernas skrifter och brefvexling, first series, III, p.493, 733, 734, 766, 767.
