Henry Hampton was noted amongst the Scottish burgesses serving as councillors for Gothenburg from 1633-1635. He also appeared amongst the list of Gothenburg citizens, ca. 1639, where his occupation was noted as timber merchant. Some infer from his name he was English. He may be a relative of Hans Hanton [SSNE 8397]
