Charles Sheldon was one of Francis Sheldon's [SSNE 2523] sons. He was born in Sweden either in 1655 or 1664. He followed in his father's and brother Frans Johan's [SSNE 6651] footsteps and became a shipbuilder. When Frans Johan died in 1692 Charles took over at Karlskrona shipyard and became one of the foremost shipwrights in Sweden's navy.
