Two soldiers, Alexander Garden [SSNE 1754] and William Hutcheon [SSNE 1700], served in the Scottish company of soldiers and cavalry under captain Abraham Young in Swedish service in 1592-1593. This was during the last year of the reign of King Johan III and the first of King Sigismund (Johan's son who was also king of Poland).This may be the same as Abraham Young who entered King Sigismund III of Poland's service in 1598, see [SSNE 584]. Several Scots who had been in Swedish service left for Poland when Sigismund lost the crown to his uncle, who became Karl IXSwedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, 1592/12 and 15; Swedish Riksarkiv, Militieräkenskaper 1537-1619, 1592, 1593.
