Text source

Alexander Aidie was a Scot from Aberdeen who emigrated to Poland-Lithuania in 1637 with his wife Helen Barclay. He became a merchant of Danzig. Their daughter Catherine [SSNE 6509] married Daniel Davidson [SSNE 960/967]. James Schairp, son of the Laird of Houston, wrote to his father from Danzig asking for help so that Mr Aidie [Eadie] in Danzig would employ the writer as his servant. That was either this man or James Aidie [SSNE 7080]. It was probably this Al. Aedie who contributed £535 in 1686 to the Marischal College restoration fund
