Johan Sinclair served as a customs inspector at Lilla Edet from the early 1650s until the 1660s (with Crown service beginning in 1632?). In 1656 he became involved with Anders Wetterman and the following year both were condemed by the Gota Hovratt. Sinclair was later described as "en av varsta kverulanter" in Sweden. However, this did not prevent him from remaining as the customs inspector of the small tolls in Bohuslan between 1665 and 1672. He was married to Karin Larsdotter who survived him.
