Text source
Colonel John Butler served in the Polish army in 1638. He was the brother of Lord Mountgarret. John's wife Katherine Butler lodged a petition on 17 July 1638 regarding her penniless state and her neglect by her husband. He had sold lands in Tipperary for £1000 a few years previously to John and William Cantwell but they had failed to complete the sale.
