Text source
Jacob Cahun was the son of the Scottish factory owner, Peter Cahun of Falun. In 1648, Jacob studied mathematics. He left Sweden for the Dutch East Indies and was a burgess in Batavia from the 1660s until his death in 1671. Cahun was both a rich merchant and the owner of a lime-works. He married a native woman from the East Indies. His will caused friction between his brother and remaining sister. .
