David Kinnaird became a burgess of Gothenburg in 1698. He was already settled there before then as according to the port shipping lists he was trading most frequently with Hamburg, but also with Lubeck, Varberg and Amsterdam from 1691 to 1698. He was probably related to the other Kinnairds settled in the town, especially William [SSNE 7229]. David certainly appeared as godparent to William's son Robert in 1695 and his daughter Ingri Elisabeth in 1701. Apparently in 1707 David reported to the Gothenburg town council that members of the firebrigade had been assaulted by some others and reiterated the resolution to arm the firebrigade
