Colin Crockat was noted as a merchant who became a burgess of Gothenburg in February 1691. However he had been in the town far longer than that and certainly appears as a godparent at various baptisms at Christina Church in Gothenburg from 1687. He appears on the Gothenburg shipping lists between 1684 and 1688, trading with London(1684), Crail(1684), Hamburg(1685), Leith(1685), Dumfries(1686), Amsterdam(1688) and "Scotland"(1688). Colin was married to Helena Gries. She died and was buried on 2 February 1693 just aged 26. It is as yet uncertain what his nationality was, although Fischer notes the Krockats as Scottish. He was probably related to Daniel [SSNE 6930] and Henry [SSNE 7228]E. Långström, Göteborgs Stads Borgarelängd 1621-1864, (Göteborg, 1926), p.48; W.
