James Campbell was the son of the Major Charles Campbell [SSNE 2016]and his wife Elin Jacobsdotter. On 24 May 1639, James Campbell received a grant for land in Alseda and Åby near Jönköping. Queen Christina's confirmation of this grant was dated in Stockholm, 20 March 1647. James was the father of two officers in Sweden called Anders and Gustaf Campbell.
