William Hay was in command of a company of James Sinclair's [SSNE 538] regiment in Danish-Norwegian service. The regiment was garrisoned at Stade until the town fell in April 1628. Hay had his reckoning by 4/10/1628. However in the autumn of that year he was to recruit 300 men in Scotland.
